Originally I posted "not sure" (becuase my brother has talked a couple times about grapheme -> colour) but I just found out that my mum has intense concept syn!

She has a number line (twisty & turny), an alphabet line (horizontal, with a 90-degree turn downward at P), and time lines as well. Her year and week have that ferris-wheel shape that I've heard a lot of people on here describe. I was so excited when I found out! She thought it was totally normal; I had to hold back or I could have just bombarded her with questions for hours. :D

I'm starting to think my mom may be a synee. She's always asking "do you smell that?" or plugging her nose because of a smell. She says she can taste the smell in her mouth too. Whenever this happens no one else really seems to smell anything, so I'm watching out to see when it happens.

i actually think my older sis might be a syn because sometimes she asks me if i can smell anything weird and im like, um, no. and the other day she thought she heard something when the house was completely quiet. so either she has an uber good sense of smell and hearing, or she's a syn. i will do further investigations...

I think my little sister might be a mirror-touch synee like me :-D
Yesterday we watched "Inglorious Basterds" and every time when there was a close-up view of someone´s scalp being cut off we both tried to look away and pressed our hands against our foreheads where the wound would have been. ;-) I never noticed my sister behaves the way I do because we hardly ever watch TV together.
If she really has mirror-touch it would be pretty cool ;-)

It sounds like she could be a mirror-touch synee.

Oh, and thanks for the warning. I will never watch that.

i think my dad has conceptual syn, with the whole "the year as a ferris wheel" bit, with january at the bottom. which is wonderful and all, but it's totally different from my syn, so there's not as much comparing/contrasting. also, he had never heard of synesthesia before i told him about mine, so again, there's not as much to talk about. he doesn't really care much about it. :/ i'm glad to have someone, though!

My mom says that raw zucchini tastes like flounder, and she says that walking on snow is like biting into a kleenex.
Syn? I don't know.

I don't know about the first one, but the snow/kleenex sounds syn-ish. Maybe you should ask her about it a little more.

I'm pretty sure that one of my brothers (I'll call him K, to make this more explainable) has sound->touch. We were just swimming at a lake, and another one of my brothers, T, was banging rocks under the water and it was making a sound that really hurt my throat and neck. I didn't say anything about it, but then K asked him to stop because the sound was hurting his neck. So then we asked T if he felt it, and he said "What, was I supposed to? What are you guys talking about?!"...and my mom said she didn't feel anything either.

I guess if that's syn, then he's a synee too! :bsmile:

Also, the youngest of my brothers, H, has mirror-touch. I discovered this about a month ago.

I'm pretty excited about it. I said something today that apparently must be syn, but I didn't think so :emb:, and my entire family looked at me like I was crazy. Apparently a type of potato chip doesn't taste like a hotel. I just don't understand how it doesn't. Potato chip taste. Hotel. Equal! :eyeroll:

Well, I'm pretty sure my mum has mirror->touch. Also, she can't stand any kind of music or noise when she's tired. I have the impression that it literally hurts for her. Some other things she has said, make me think she might have sound-> touch.
She also says the word "Boulogne" (name of a city in France) reminds her of vegetables. I'm not sure what this might be. Word -> picture/colour? Or maybe tasting words? And she's also agreed with me that 9 is a really ugly number, and her favourite is 3. I don't think she has colours for numbers but it may be other kind. I'm not sure if it's normal for non-synees, to say that they find some random numbers beautiful .

My dad doesn't have any syn.

I asked my niece who 7 at the time what colour is A? n without any hesitation she replyed "red" , n paused for a few seconds n said "oh wait, A dosent have a colour" like she was embarrased for making a mistake. does that sound like syn?

I'm excited my dad said something that sounded like a synee! :bsmile:
The other day, when my dad and I were walking to our car after watching the fireworks, he said something along the lines of feeling the sound on his chest while watching the fireworks. I didn't know what he was talking about, because I never felt anything on my chest. I felt something on my face, but I thought that was normal. Maybe he has some sound -> touch? Or is feeling the sound of fireworks on your chest completely normal?

So earlier I had said that my brother, K, has sound->touch. Well, he knew about syn, and he told me that he has weekday->color and said his days' colors. He told me this a few weeks ago, so I just asked him again and his colors were exactly the same, though I totally disagree. :hmm: How on earth can Friday be blue-black?!

Anyway, he is for sure a synee!

Cool! And I agree, how can Friday be blue-black?! I've been visiting my relatives over the past couple weeks, and I tried to figure out if any of them have synesthesia. One likely synnie is my 3-year-old cousin, who claims that numbers have color and objects have personalities. He's been known to make up stories, though (he told me that his dad got kidnapped by a gecko and that he has a cell phone so tiny that nobody can see it), so I'm holding off on the celebration until I check if his responses are consistent.

Another one of my brothers keeps saying things lately that make me think he has syn...like some sound->touch, lexical-gustatory, and maybe some sort of taste->concept syn. I'm not all that sure though. And I don't think he knows about syn.
Today he said that he uses the word "sediments" instead of "sentiments" because "sentiments" tastes bad like a spice candle. My mom thought that was really strange, but I was intrigued. :hmm:
